This set of 100 cards was sold directly into the hobby by The Sporting News in a slip-cover case for $50. The blank-backed cards measure 4" x 5" and feature a sepia-toned photo surrounded by a 1/4 inch white border.
The photos were the first of several uses on baseball cards of The Sporting New's archives of ballplayer photos taken by Charles Martin Conlon between 1915-1935.
The Sporting News text logo appears at the top of the
card. At the bottom are the player's names, team at the time photo was
taken, and position played for the season indicated. A card number
appears at the lower right.
